What a great service! My wife became bed ridden and I needed help. Our doctor recommended Merit hospice, and it was a god send. The head nurse Lara was excellent, and Mary was so good with my wife. After several months of great care she passed peacefully, thank god for the caring people who were there through difficult times. You can’t find a better caregivers than Merit hospice’.
I thought exceptional care was the norm for hospice until our PureWick Specialist, with 40 years of elder care experience, asked who the heck our hospice provider was during a visit. She was impressed by the quality of the equipment and the quality of the medications. We had hours to choose a hospice provider and simply lucked into Merit. Andrew met with us in the evening and had mom moved home on hospice by noon the next day. He stayed on top of her care, and was in constant communication with us. Mom loved Andrew, probably because he brought her flowers. There are not enough words for Nurse Amy. She listened and answered my endless questions, at all hours… Amy brought calm to the chaos of losing my mom. Marissa might have been mom’s favorite, “so elegant and full of grace.” Mom looked forward to her daily visits. Who doesn’t like to have their hair washed? Our overnight nurse Helga kept mom comfortable and made her feel safe. Nights were hard before Helga. Sleep deprivation made a horrible time in our lives harder. Our family was blessed by the loving care we all received from Merit.
Losing a loved one is one of the hardest things a family can go through, and during that painful time, Merit became a source of comfort we didn’t even know we needed. From day one, they treated us with warmth, patience, and genuine kindness—as if we were part of their own family. Every nurse, aide, and staff member went above and beyond. They cared for our Nana with dignity and gentleness, and they cared for us just as much. They listened, reassured, and supported us through every emotional moment. Their presence brought peace into a time filled with grief and uncertainty. We will always be grateful for the compassion and respect they showed. If you are facing the heartbreak of losing someone you love, I cannot imagine a better team to have by your side.
