The T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center is one of the most extraordinary inpatient hospice facilities in the country — a purpose-built, nine-acre campus in north Dallas featuring a five-acre lake, walking trails, meditation gardens, and a labyrinth. Every one of the 36 private rooms has a direct lake view and its own balcony large enough to move the patient's bed outside on beautiful days. The facility is now operated by the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas (VNA) — the first nonprofit hospice provider in the state of Texas, established in 1934 — following a partnership with Forefront Living that took effect in early 2026. VNA brings an extraordinary legacy of mission-driven care, pediatric hospice, Child Life Specialists, music therapy, massage therapy, and bereavement support across 16 North Texas counties. The center is temporarily closed for staffing transition and is expected to reopen under VNA leadership in Summer 2026. All care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance.
