Valor Hospice - Dallas

Put my mom on hospice with this provider. Only 2 people assisted on regular basis. Elizabeth the liaison and Albertine the nurse. The first Chaplin took forever to arrive and the social worker was useless. Day my mom passed it took 3 hours for a on call nurse to arrive. She was very impersonal. The social worker was going to send grief information and never did. I also received a sympathy card from their office with unknown names of people I never met or talked to. They hire young people that obviously have no experience dealing with family’s of the elderly.

Their Medicare review is 2.0. RUN! If you are considering Valor Hospice for your loved one, I strongly urge you to read this first. My experience with this agency has been one of the most distressing, chaotic, and unacceptable care situations I have ever dealt with. Choosing hospice is an emotional decision — families deserve honesty, communication, and real support. What I received instead was neglect, misinformation, and a shocking lack of accountability and communication. The most horrifying incident happened early on: a CNA actually told my mother — a vulnerable dementia patient — that “it would be okay if she killed herself.” No family should ever have to process something like that. Yes, the CNA was fired immediately after they reviewed the cameras placed in my mom’s room, but after that, the owner Garrett King personally promised me things would be corrected moving forward. Instead of improvement, everything got worse and it was very clear they were trying to get rid of us. Valor Hospice repeatedly changed my mother’s nurse without informing me — multiple times. They held an IDG meeting regarding my mom that I was never notified of, where they reduced my mother’s nursing visits to once a week without my knowledge or input, a major care change. I immediately requested a call with the hospice doctor and an hour long phone call resulted in the doctor increasing my moms nursing visits back to twice a week which I was originally told she would have and he also noted that he has not been informed of everything going on with my mom and her full diagnoses. He was not aware of many things-Valor withheld. Hospice is supposed to partner with families. Instead, they intentionally kept me in the dark on decisions that directly impacted my mother’s safety and care. The new aide assigned to my mother has been another concern. In two full weeks, my mother has been given ONE shower. Basic hygiene requests — such as simply putting her in a pull-up — were ignored despite me asking repeatedly. The aide openly expressed being overwhelmed with her workload and frustration with the company and based on my mother’s lack of care, I believe it. My mother deserved better than someone making excuses and missing essential care. Just days ago, the aide reported that my mother’s eye was very red and that she didn’t seem like herself. I told her to contact the hospice on-call nurse since it was after hours. Instead, she contacted the facility staff — not hospice. Which I did not find out about until 4 hours later!! As a result, hospice never came until late. I spent hours messaging and calling back and forth with their director of nursing just trying to get a nurse to acknowledge the situation. The nurse did not make it check on my mother until 7 p.m. If my mom had been experiencing something serious, the consequences could have been catastrophic. This level of delay is completely unacceptable. And perhaps the clearest sign of all: when I finally made the decision to revoke hospice services after documenting repeated failures, they showed absolutely no compassion or concern whatsoever. No urgency, no apology, nothing. Their complete indifference spoke volumes about how little my mother meant to them as a patient. The pattern has been undeniable: – Extremely poor communication – Multiple nurse changes without notifying family – Critical care decisions made privately, without consent – Minimal personal care and hygiene for my mother – Confusion among staff about basic responsibilities – Hours-long delays in responding to urgent concerns – Leadership making promises and never following through – Total lack of concern when I revoked services I have now removed my mother from their care entirely, and I feel immense relief knowing her facility alone will care for her. That says everything you need to know. Families put their trust — and their loved ones — in the hands of hospice agencies. Valor Hospice did not honor that trust. I hope sharing my experience prevents another family from going through what we have endured.

I have had the opportunity to work with Fred personally, and his dedication to patients and families is exceptional. What stands out most is his willingness to meet patients wherever they are — including coming to the hospital to visit them directly. That level of commitment and compassion is something you don’t see everywhere, and it makes a meaningful difference during such an important time for patients and their loved ones. Fred consistently shows professionalism, responsiveness, and genuine care. It’s clear that he takes pride in supporting both patients and healthcare teams, and his presence helps make transitions to hospice smoother and more comfortable. Valor Hospice is fortunate to have someone like Fred representing them. I highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a hospice team that truly cares.
