WARNING: GRAPHIC. How heart to heart continues to be a large company is beyond me. My mother in laws husband was only home for a short period of time. His pain was uncontrolled the entire time. The staff kept saying “well if this doesn’t work we will send him to facility.” That bar kept changing every time something happened. For most of the nights (obviously including the day as well) my mother in law had to give medication every 1 to 2 hours. This immediately should have warranted a change but of course they were always just pushed aside. We spoke several times about how frustrated she was and how she would call the hospice and no one would answer or no one would come or she would get “in trouble.” She made it very clear that even when she was giving pain medication every 1 to 2 hours, his pain was STILL uncontrolled. MEDICARE COVERS CRISIS CARE IN THESE CONDITIONS and it is very clear that they didn’t want to lose any of the money they were getting to provide that for this man. They even had a power outage WHILE HE WAS ON OXYGEN, did they check or respond to that? Of course not. At one point he started to have terminal secretions AKA the death rattle WHILE he was still very much alert and awake (this normally doesn’t happen because most people are already under heavy influence of medication so the secretions do not really phase them). He was awake, he was alert, and the medications being given were not helping the terminal secretions. Again, he was awake, he was alert, HE WAS AWARE AND COULD FEEL HE WAS ACTIVELY DROWNING. Did the hospice do anything with this information? No, the berated my mother in law for calling. She FINALLY got a nurse out there and while she was there, he was in such pain and again, actively aware he was drowning, so I imagine TERRIFIED. Terrified to the point where he took his own life. Hospice is supposed to peacefully bring someone to the end of their life not make them want to take it. I hope every single person that worked on this case and every single person that knows about it, never forgets what a trauma this has caused. Imagine being in so much pain you want to take your life. Imagine drowning in your own secretions. Imagine begging for help and not getting it. What a shame.

Heart To Heart Hospice took wonderful care of my bedbound husband while he was in Vista nursing home. My husband was being cared for there , while I had a Much needed surgery. The Nurses, Aides, And staff were stellar in meeting our needs. They kept me updated by phone on his progress while I was recovering. And they never made me feel Uncomfortable for making those update phone calls. I found them to be knowledgeable, personable, compassionate, and understanding. I would highly recommend them to anybody in need of their services.

I am deeply appreciative for the support and care that was given to me and my family. My child wouldn't have had the last few good happy and at peace days if it wasn't for this company. I am so pleased our health provider in Pasadena referred us to you guys. From the start we saw excellence the person who came out and went over a ton of information and asked us for our questions and concerns was SUPERIOR and we knew the ends and outs very well in my opinion thanks to her and her caring heart. The nursing staff was fantastic and very warming and delightful all while in our home caring for our loved one. We felt like everyone in your staff that we encountered was our family in the end. I would like to say thank you for taking what should have been one of the worst times in our lives and making it happy remembering and peaceful. We all appreciate you guys!
