Founded in 1980, Houston Hospice is Greater Houston's oldest and largest independent nonprofit hospice — and the only nonprofit with a freestanding, stand-alone inpatient facility in the Texas Medical Center. The Margaret Cullen Marshall Hospice Care Center offers 33 large, private inpatient rooms spread across three floors of a peaceful estate on 2.5 acres, complete with lush gardens, a reflecting pond, a chapel with soaring ceilings, and quiet family rooms where you and your loved ones can gather, rest, and breathe. Open access means patients from any Houston-area hospice agency can receive care here — not just Houston Hospice patients — a rare and generous community commitment. The facility provides round-the-clock expert nursing alongside physicians, chaplains, social workers, and bereavement counselors, and also offers a specialized pediatric program called Butterfly Care for children with life-limiting conditions. Care is provided to all families regardless of ability to pay.

We can’t thank you all enough for taking such wonderful care of my mom. The facility was extremely clean and well-maintained, which gave our family so much peace of mind. The nurses were absolutely amazing—kind, attentive, and compassionate every step of the way. They kept me and my family well informed and always took the time to answer our questions. We are truly grateful for the care and support you provided during this time. ❤️
I don’t know how it’s possible for this facility to not have five stars across everyone reviews. The staff was the kindest most considerate group of people I experienced in this entire process! The letters months later were so thoughtful and at the perfect time. I pray no one goes through what me and my family went through but if you do, this is the perfect place for your loved one to be taken care of at! God bless all the people from Houston Hospice that helped us through this very difficult time. 🙏🏾
