Houston Hospice - Houston

The nurses, IDG Team, Admission Gentlemen, and office team provided an exceptional service caring for my father who passed away on April 18, 2026. The LVN & RN all showed up at the house when my dad transitioned to be with the lord Jesus Christ. When I had urgent medical questions and called Houston Hospice, someone would answer the phone or immediately return my phone calls. If I can do it again, I would call Houston Hospice to care for my love one.

Complete bait-and-switch. Unsafe. Neglectful. The admissions representative sold us on services and timing that simply did not happen. When my mother was discharged home, we were told her equipment would be delivered the day before discharge. That did not happen. We were also told a hospice nurse would be at the house waiting to assess her when she arrived home. That also did not happen. I had to call multiple times just to find out where the equipment was and when a nurse would arrive. We then learned she had not even been fully admitted yet. It took several days to sort everything out during a very stressful time. One nurse who came out did not appear to know how to use the oxygen equipment. A week into hospice care, we still had not seen a nurse aide and again had to call to ask what was going on. The organization has felt extremely disorganized from the start. Communication between admissions and the clinical team does not appear coordinated, and the promises made to our family were not followed through. Most concerning, the nurse assigned to care for my dying parent has spent significant time on her phone during visits rather than focused on patient care. This has been incredibly disappointing during one of the hardest times for our family. Families considering hospice should ask detailed questions and verify exactly what services will actually be provided and when. It's been 10 days now in their care and a nurse's aide hasn't even come by or contacted us.

I cannot say enough good things about Houston Hospice and the care they provided for my Dad during his final days. From the moment we arrived, their team wrapped us in support, professionalism, and genuine compassion that made all the difference for our family. The nurses were truly incredible. They cared for my Dad with such tenderness, respect, and dignity—treating him not just as a patient, but as the beloved father and grandfather he was. They anticipated his needs, kept him comfortable and pain-free, and always explained everything clearly and kindly to us. Their compassion extended beyond medical care; they offered emotional support to our entire family and helped us navigate this difficult time with grace. One thing that meant the world to us was their pet visitation policy. Being able to bring our dog in to visit my Dad brought him so much joy and comfort in his last days. It’s a small but deeply meaningful gesture that shows how much they truly care about the whole family unit. Houston Hospice lives out their mission every single day—that life matters. They honored my Dad’s life and allowed him to leave this world with peace and dignity. We are forever grateful. I would recommend Houston Hospice without hesitation to any family facing this journey.
