Amity Hospice

Just over a year ago, Amity helped us bring our terminally ill Mom home from the hospital on hospice. Things looked bleak at that point. Amity helped educate us about patient physical care, what to expect during Mom's decline, and worked tirelessly to provide the resources we need to keep Mom clean, comfortable, cared for, and as healthy as one can be when terminal. Going on a year of hospice now, Mom has been bed-bound (but pretty cognizant) the whole time. Her degradation has progressed slower than I expected. I firmly believe that having Amity as a partner in Mom's well-being has enabled our family to experience this relatively pain-free 'bonus year' with Mom. Amity has been there every step of the way and I have every confidence, as we travel through different stages towards Mom's passing, that Amity will walk us through with support, grace, and love. An Amity caregiver comes once a day every day during the M-F workweek to help us with taking care of Mom physically. We regularly get visits from nurses, a chaplain, social workers, a family support person, and a case worker. They are all gracious, caring, and treat Mom as an individual - not as a case. An Amity person is available via phone 24-hours a day to calmly answer our questions - that availability is very important whenever we experience something new and get anxious. I strongly recommend Amity to anyone considering hospice. And, I suggest contacting Amity before things become super-critical - Amity's knowledgeable people, ability to quickly procure care items, and compassionate patient management can provide ease of mind to both patient and patient's family long before the patient begins transitioning. I am so grateful for Amity!

My mother has been a client of Amity Hospice for two years, and our family is deeply grateful for the support she has received. She has had several CNAs during this time. Each CNA has offered care in their own way. But one caregiver has truly transformed my mother’s experience: Eboni Davis. Eboni is exceptional in every sense of the word. She doesn’t just care for my mother; she connects with her. She talks to her, laughs with her, and brings out parts of my mom that Alzheimer’s has tried to quiet. One of the most meaningful things she does is share music with her. They talk about songs Mom remembers, hum melodies together, and enjoy an extension of music therapy in a way that feels personal and joyful. Those moments lift my mother’s spirit in ways that words cannot fully capture. Beyond the emotional connection, Eboni’s practical care is outstanding. She styles Mom’s hair beautifully, understands her moods, and meets her with patience and kindness every single visit. She lifts her gently and gives her full showers instead of quick bed baths. She orders supplies before we even realize they’re running low. She has even fed Mom when needed, always with dignity and tenderness. These are not small gestures. These are signs of someone who sees the person, not just the patient. Our core care team includes Chaplain Robin, Social Worker Julie, and RN Sheila. They are our A‑Team. Eboni is the differentiator. Honestly, on the days she’s off, we honestly find ourselves wishing she were the one walking through the door. Eboni embodies what hospice care should look like. She could teach a master class (and get paid BIG) on what to do (and what not to do) when caring for clients. We are profoundly grateful for her and for Amity Hospice.

Amity Hospice and every employee went above and beyond to make a difficult experience as good as it could possibly be. Every person involved with my father’s care was amazing and even though my mom was the caregiver and not the patient, they were loving and caring with her as well. I am so appreciative for everyone that helped my family in such a caring and loving way.
