They have been taking care of my father for a few months who has a myriad of health issues. They have taken all of my concerns seriously and listen well. The nurses are prompt whenever there is an issue and quick to respond. They have taken extremely good care of my dad and are helping to make his transition as peaceful and as comfortable as they can, while also not trying to completely snowball him with pain medications.

Hospice of the Big Country has opened my eyes to what it means to be truly compassionate and loving while being professional at the same time. Two dear friends of mine, who were married for over 65 years, had no children and very little family, were on service with this amazing organization. She was ill and he took wonderful care of her until the time came when she needed the kind of care she received from Dr. Dawson, the nurses, aides, social workers, chaplain and volunteers at HOBC. She loved every one of them, and they loved her in return. While they cared for her, they also cared for him as he cared for her. After her passing, he decided to pay it forward and become a volunteer, after seeing all they do, alongside the staff. He knew from personal experience how Hospice of the Big Country had been there for his wife – and for him. He loved being a volunteer and interacting with the staff and other volunteers, especially the “We Honor Veterans” program since he was a veteran himself. When he was diagnosed with cancer he knew that he would receive the same amazing care that she had – and he certainly did. The “We Honor Veterans” volunteers, in uniform, presented a very moving military program along with meaningful gifts. HOBC staff, friends and family were able to share in that beautiful presentation. He loved telling everyone he knew about the wonderful, caring people at Hospice of the Big Country. After seeing the way everyone at Hospice of the Big Country treated my dear friends, I have told many people about HOBC and will continue to recommend them to anyone who is facing end of life situations, for themselves or their loved ones. Hospice of the Big Country is absolutely the right choice!

I was so impressed with how the Hospice of the Big Country lovingly cared for my dad. Rarely do you see nurses like Sherry who show such compassion not only to the patient, but to family members (including my dads dog “Sassy”) as well. I can’t imagine any Hospice organization offering more love and care than that which I witnessed from Hospice of the Big Country. The whole team is made up of individuals full of love and compassion for the patient and the grieving family. It makes me think of 1Corinthians 13:1....If I speak with the tongue of men and angels, but have not love, I am a resounding gong or a clanging symbol. Hats off to this team and the love they share during such a difficult time. May God reward each of you for your faithful service.
