Compassus was the only insurance approved company for my mom’s hospice service. Shaylon, the coordinator was very kind and helpful. He was able to get insurance approval very quickly and came to my house to get paperwork signed and happily explained everything. Most of the nurses who visited were also nice. However, when the nurses switched from daily visit to weekly visit they didn’t communicate that with me. They also did not provide an ETA until they are already in the area so we had to be home all day waiting for them. And when my mom decided to leave the country to go back to her home country, they rushed me to sign the paperwork to end her hospice service. I told them let’s wait till she gets on the plane safely because if she is too frail to fly then we would need to continue hospice service here. They said no, I have to sign it before she even go to the airport, so I did anyway and thank God she made it safely back home. I get that they were worried about insurance reimbursement but it felt very inhumane when they did that to my mom.
This hospice company has done some great work in our memory care. All staff have been very professional, polite and bring great compassion to our residents who need hospice. We love our partnership with Compassus!
When you loose a loved one you have time later to reflect back at those last weeks. For me it going from a hospital stay for mr wife to a very caring organization called Compassus Hospice. It began with Jack Weir who explained what would be done going from trying to provide fix at the hospital to the care and comfort my wife would be receiving with Compassus. Jack not only help set up our connection with Compassus but am by multiple times to make sure all was going well. His efforts were above and beyond. With Jack we had the pleasure to meet Shannon Neemon, my wife head nurse. That is what she called Shannon. Shannon was always there when expected, and returned when for extra help. She not only provided that need care but showed her concern and even love for her patient. I could never have asked for anyone better. In the end Shannon was as concerned for me and my family as much as for my wife. It kept me ready for her passing. Shannon is the best of best. Compassus had several others coming by to check on my wife. Chaplin Danny Gilliam providing the prayers we needed. They’re social worker, night nurses, on duty nurses like Tina, and others. I cannot forget Toche who came twice a week to assist with her showers and cleaning. So much joy, my wife was crazy about her. Toche always smiling bringing smiles to faces and began every visit with “hey girl, how are you today”. Sucky a pleasure to have in our home. Bottom line Compassus Hospice is wonderful because of the people that work there. Thanks for everything.
