What Families Are Saying

We only knew Leah, Avery and Isabel with Blue Star Hospice for 3 days but they were the most compassionate and caring people. We were very impressed with how wonderful their care was. They listened to us and answered all our questions. They took wonderful care of our father.
My Review of Blue Star Hospice Less than a year ago, my mother, who was nearly 98 years old and still remarkably sharp, began showing signs that deeply concerned me. After a home visit from a compassionate Physician Assistant named Ann, I learned that my mother had entered the final stage of her life. Ann explained that hospice services could help my mother remain at home, which was her greatest wish, and she encouraged me to consider that option carefully. She recommended Blue Star Hospice in Katy, Texas, and shortly afterward their team came to our home. From the very first meeting, I was impressed by their professionalism and warmth. They took time to answer every question in detail, including concerns I hadn’t even thought to ask. Most importantly, they treated both my mother and me with genuine compassion, patience, and respect. I was surprised to learn that Medicare covered hospice care at home, and Blue Star Hospice helped me understand exactly how it worked. They built a care plan that allowed my mother to remain in familiar surroundings, which made an enormous difference in her comfort and peace of mind. Caregivers visited several times each week to assist with bathing, hygiene, and personal care, always treating my mother with dignity. A nurse came regularly to monitor her condition, check vital signs, coordinate medications, and guide me step by step through each stage of her decline. Knowing that experienced professionals were involved gave me confidence during a very uncertain time. Over the next nine months, my mother developed a special bond with the women who cared for her. Tanisha provided personal care with kindness, patience, and respect, always making my mother feel safe and comfortable. Nurse Penny became an essential source of support for both of us. She carefully explained what changes to expect, what symptoms meant, and how to keep my mother comfortable at every stage. Her guidance was consistently accurate and reassuring, especially as things became more difficult. When my mother’s heart function declined significantly, Blue Star Hospice arranged for an oxygen concentrator that greatly improved her breathing and reduced episodes of panic. They also provided a comfort-care medication kit that I kept in the refrigerator, ready for use when needed. During my mother’s final 24 hours, those medications were invaluable in keeping her peaceful and easing her transition. As a caregiver, I cannot overstate how much Blue Star Hospice supported me emotionally and mentally. Caring for a loved one at the end of life is exhausting and often overwhelming. There were many moments when I felt unsure or emotionally drained. Knowing I could reach someone at Blue Star Hospice at any hour—whether by phone or in person—made a tremendous difference. Someone always answered, and they always knew what to do. On the night my mother passed away, I called Blue Star Hospice. They immediately guided me through what needed to be done and arranged for someone to come to the home to assist and complete the necessary steps. Just as they had throughout the entire journey, they handled everything with professionalism, compassion, and dignity. I am profoundly grateful to everyone at Blue Star Hospice. Their support, guidance, and kindness allowed my mother to remain where she most wanted to be—in her own home, in her own bed, surrounded by love and comfort during her final months. I give Blue Star Hospice my highest recommendation. They provided exceptional care not only for my mother but also for me as her caregiver. In my opinion, they are truly a five-star hospice organization.
Jonathan has been absolutely amazing as a CNA with Blue Star Hospice. From day one, he’s been extremely reliable and always shows up on time, which honestly means a lot when you’re depending on someone for care. His communication is top notch. He always keeps me in the loop and makes sure I understand what’s going on, which gives me a lot of peace of mind. What really stands out though is how he treats my father. My dad is 88 and bedridden, and Jonathan is incredibly patient with him. He actually listens when my dad has a concern or request and makes sure he feels heard and comfortable. Jonathan takes great care of my dad’s hygiene and daily needs, and he’s very attentive and observant. He notices things like sores or anything that might need attention right away, which is so important in this kind of care. He also stays on top of supplies so we’re never scrambling or running out of anything. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about him. He’s dependable, compassionate, and truly cares about his patients. We’ve been really grateful to have him.
