Atex Hospice - Corpus Christi

We had a great experience with Atex Hospice. They took great care of my uncle in Donna, Tx. On a Saturday evening- late in the evening, I called the phone number on the chart and I ended up speaking with the on call nurse, Soraida. This was my first time interacting with an Atex employee. I had arrived Friday evening at my mom's house to help her with her brother. Soraida and I spoke a few minutes about my concerns regarding my uncle and then she decided she needed to come see him for herself. She showed up at @11:30pm at night! The time didn't bother us because we were up caring for him. She was amazing!! Extremely professional and caring. She answered all my questions- I was very impressed. On Monday, the CNA/bath aide,Lucia gave my uncle a bed bath. She is also an exceptional caregiver! She was very thorough, kind and compassionate. Soraida and Angie, a social worker came later that same day. They came because my Uncle's dtr had recently arrived from Florida and she had questions. We were very impressed again with their compassionate care and knowledge. My uncle had been rapidly declining. On Tuesday, Lucia showed up again. She could tell he had declined even more from the previous day. She decided to just change and clean him instead of giving a full bed bath. As we were turning him and working with him; he passed away. She stayed with us until the RN, Elizabeth, showed up to help us. Lucia clearly cares deeply about her patients and she has a ton of experience. I only met Elizabeth one time--but she handled everything in a thorough and professional manner. Later that afternoon, Soraida, the RN, called me to talk to me about my uncle's death. She had not been able to come to our house because of a conflict. But she wanted to follow up with me and express her condolences. We talked for several minutes and she answered all of my questions. She didn't have to call me, but she did. I highly recommend the Atex staff from the Rio Grande Valley that attended my uncle.This company was awesome and has great people who care deeply for their patients!!!!!

Send your loved one here if your really don't like them! This is the most uncaring bunch of "carers" I have ever come across in my entire life. They do not care about you, they only care about money, and the nurses and CNA's for the most part are sullen, unhelpful, and frankly will only raise your stress level. Don't use them EVER!

Atex has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional in every aspect of communication, care, and management. The lack of proper oversight, organization, and responsibility is unacceptable. The management under Krystal Fields Allen in Austin, Texas has shown little to no urgency when it comes to addressing concerns, responding to issues, or ensuring that patients receive the level of care they deserve. Communication is severely lacking. Calls go unanswered, messages are ignored, and when responses are given, they are often delayed, unclear, or dismissive. There is no sense of accountability, and problems are repeatedly brushed aside instead of being properly addressed. This creates a dangerous and stressful environment for families who are trusting this company with the well-being of their loved ones. The overall quality of care is poor. There is no consistency, no reliability, and no sense that patient safety or comfort is a priority. Management appears unorganized, careless, and unconcerned with the serious responsibility they are supposed to uphold. If you truly care about your loved one, I strongly advise you to stay far away from this company. No family should have to worry about whether their loved one is being properly cared for, and unfortunately, Atex has shown time and time again that they are not capable of providing the level of care and professionalism that people deserve. Please protect your family and do not trust this company with their care.
