Suncrest Hospice operates with a distinctive nurse practitioner-led clinical model that provides more immediate prescribing access than traditional physician-led structures, enabling faster medication adjustments and care plan modifications without waiting for weekly physician rounds. Their nurse practitioners bring critical care and emergency medicine backgrounds, making them comfortable with complex decision-making and rapid intervention when patients experience sudden symptom changes. This model positions NPs as primary clinicians rather than physician extenders, with medical director oversight through regular case review rather than direct patient management. Suncrest's approach appeals to families who have experienced frustrating delays in symptom management with other providers, where medication changes require physician approval and physicians round infrequently. The organization invests heavily in continuing education to keep their NP staff current on the latest palliative care research and symptom management advances.

As an executive director of a senior living community, we work with several hospice organizations and I must say that Suncrest is wonderful! We genuinely appreciate the caring and compassion from Taylor, the liaison, as well as the entire rest of the team!
I don't write reviews often. It takes a lot for me to do so. After several preliminary calls with Suncrest about how best to approach our family member who was very hesitant about getting home health care in the first place we were excited to finally get our family member to agree to meet with them. The nurse was 45 minutes late for her first visit and immediately said our family member wouldn't qualify for hospice care. We didn't need hospice care and made that very clear in the preliminary calls. The referral from the PCP was home and palliative care. We specifically said that the word hospice would immediately end the conversation as our family member would not stand for it. Weeks of preparation were ruined within 5 minutes of Suncrest arriving at the house. They also threatened to call APS unless we scheduled a meeting with them without ever seeing the condition of our family member. Very unprofessional.
I have had the opportunity to interact with the Suncrest Hospice Team and am impressed with their incredible responsiveness, compassion, and clinical care. From the initial meeting with Rainey, the liaison for education and navigation during a vulnerable time, to the knowledgeable clinical team, patients and families are well served.
