I am absolutely humbled by the true compassion, care and love each of these professionals exhibits. It’s not just platitudes from management, it’s every person in their employ. I absolutely trust them to have the best interests of our family foremost in their actions.
Mother’s first hospice nurse went back to the office and asked “why this lady was even put on hospice”. Mother passed within 72 hours of that first visit. (Needless to say the first nurse was replaced by a much better experienced and compassionate hospice nurse per our families request). Daddy was put on hospice the week after mother passed. He had the most fantastic hospice nurse. However, the night he died, hospice was non- existent and I was in my own. My sister called Hospice that evening to gain support/complain and was told there’s no administrator/manager on duty that could help and to trust the night nurse we were given that he/she was a professional, and they knew what they were doing. Come to find out there’s always an administrator/manager on duty 24/7. The night nurse came and pronounced Daddy dead and said she had somebody that had fallen and had to leave. Didn’t ask how we were doing, if we needed anything or if we were even OK. (Once we called a different hospice nurse who gave us their personal number, the night nurse then showed up at the nursing home prior to his passing. But we shouldn’t have had to go thru those steps for her “to be there for the family”.)
Peterson Hospice is an incredibly compassionate and dedicated organization led by a caring and passionate Dr. James Young. Great organizations are led by great people and this is evident in Peterson Hospice. My family lost a most beloved wife, mother and grandmother but with the assistance of Dr Young’s caring team we were able to live each day with dignity as they lovingly cared for our loved one. We cannot say enough about this extraordinary team of professionals. Their dedication and absolute ability to impart care, love and respect to the patient and family is uncommon and they are appreciated beyond our humble words. God bless you all.
