What Families Are Saying

My family and I had an exceptional experience working with New Century Hospice during a very difficult time. When my father announced that he was ready to go on hospice, Lisa Hagood met us at the hospital with compassion and a great depth of knowledge. She explained our options and within a number of hours my dad was at home, with everything he needed, and professional care to help him through this transition. We worked with Jon Godby, an exceptionally warm and skilled hospice nurse who visited daily and was available 24/7 to provide counsel. This was a very delicate time and it gave us a great deal of comfort to know that my dad's wishes we being honored in an organized and efficient way. We can't thank you enough.
Martha has been a wonderful aid for us she has taken very good care of Mom, she lets us know ahead of time what time she will arrive, she has been very thorough on bathing mom and talks to her letting her know what's going on, ask her questions and communicate with her very well, we are well pleased with her
Hospice aide only came out once over 3 month period because mom didn’t want a stranger to shower her. Could the aide not have done something else for her rather than just cancelling? Oral hygiene? Ambulation? Offer fluids? Change linens? No instruction to lay family members on how to transfer her or to help prevent her from falling. Never got a shower chair and had to buy our own from Amazon. When a request was made of nurse regarding a medication ( for the third time over 2 week period), response was “do me a favor and text me and remind me, I might forget”. MD Stated in a care plan meeting that they would send a speech therapist for one visit to evaluate mom’s swallowing difficulty and make recommendations, this never happened. Three different times never got return phone calls when messages left at hospice. Hospice nurse on vacay on scheduled day to visit and no substitute came and we weren’t told ahead of time. Chaplain and social worker very non-existent. Social worker acted shocked when I asked initially how to get hold of the nurse stating “I can’t give you her personal number”, this is a hospice business so I assumed she had a company phone to manage clients, but they don’t. This is 2025— shouldn’t have been such a shocking question. Hospice didn’t follow through with terminating services on date confirmed with social worker and instead presented paperwork a week later, a Medicare money grab thanks to New Century . Very disappointed in their services.
