Harbor Hospice - Houston

If I could give zero stars I would! Please do your research before choosing this company! From the very beginning we were lied too. I was told that there was an inpatient unit if things got to where I could no longer care for my father. Then the nurse tells me I was misinformed that they do not offer such services I was just “sold” this to choose Harbor. It gets worse! My dad had been having issues going to the bathroom my sister and I would call the on call nurse I can’t remember his name was no help! His solution was “oh give him lorazepam, his body will relax and let go.” That didn’t help. We called again around 11pm we were told he would be here to check on him in about an hour and a half. 6AM came and I’m getting a call asking if he still needed to be checked on. My sister and I said yes this man didn’t show up till past 9AM. Checks on him puts a suppository and says all should be good this was 04/18/26. Later that evening my dad took his last breath between 7:45-7:49PM we call and again he mentions he won’t make it until an hour and a half. He shows up speaks to the officer that was waiting for him to destroy all the narcotics, calls time of death at 9:28pm then proceeds to say he was transitioning this morning, but he never mentioned that to my sister or I. He then calls the funeral home we chose they didn’t answer so he leaves a voicemail and then just leaves without saying anything mind you he didn’t show up in scrubs he was well dressed in slacks, button up shirt and dress shoes. The officer had to come back and wait until the funeral home people came to pick up my dads body. The officer then mentioned he should have waited until they got there. The next day my sister and I get with the funeral home to setup arrangements for my dad, and the director there mentions yeah “I’m sorry I had to get information from you all last night I had a missed call and called back in less than 5 mins and no answer he then stated he called 2 more times with still no answer.” I called to file a complaint and was told the director of the facility would be reaching out to me. Here we are 04/30/26 and I’ve still heard nothing from them.

Great place to volunteer at for any medical students and elders as well! The environment is welcoming and kind, plus the volunteer coordinator, (Janeth) was very helpful and attentive. Definitely would recommend!
