The nurses caring for my mom were awesome. However Chaplain Gary was supposed to assist with mom’s funeral service and he never showed up or contacted us to say he wasn't coming. My brother had to perform the service for our mom which he shouldn't have had to do! It has been over five months since mom passes away and no one has even contacted my dad, her husband of 67 years, to provide bereavement support. I would NOT recommend this agency!!! Follow up from previous review in December. It is now almost February and now my dad needs hospice. Guess who we didn’t call.
I had the pleasure in filling out my survey for both my parents this week. It brought back so many memories, but one thing it did was remind me of how kind people can be. Both my parents were on hospice services here with Elara Caring. I was pleased and happy to put on the survey how awesome my nurses and other care team members were when they visited both my parents. Erica and Kendra was my mom’s Nurses, She took to them so well. Erica was a friend to mom and mom trusted her. Kendra was so kind she truly is a good person the kind of nurse that will do the small things, that sometimes get overlooked. Brandy the Social Worker was on it, taking calls from me when she was off work, even helped with things that she did not have to do, Like support and education concerning my disabled sister that had recently come to live with me. Dora her HHA cared for her through tears and her constantly saying I can do it myself, Dora was so patient. Chaplain Gary, I think in another life my mom and him knew each other she didn’t remember much as she started to decline but she always asked “when that guy coming to talk Story”. I can’t say enough about Misty the volunteer coordinator , this women took a community holiday event and made my mom feel like she was the whole purpose of Celebration. the survey had an area where you can put ALWAYS, And that is so accurate because every time I needed support/education concerning changes and medications,The staff was always there, always available and always reaching out to me even up until the last day. The whole team from Britany, Shantel that took care of my Dad in his short time on hospice, the marketing department that moved fast to get him out the hospital and home with me, social worker , Nursing, HHA, And Chaplain’s as well as the wonderful volunteer coordinator. This team of people really took a huge load off my family from donations to just showing up!. I will forever have the comfort of knowing my parents had a peaceful transition to their heavenly home.
My mom had Elara Caring take care of her in her home for 4 weeks before moving to an assisted living memory community. During that time the nurses Lindsay and Peggy kept me informed every time they saw mom. I appreciated their call every time to give me updates. Also when my other care takers noticed a change in mom's behavior, I called Elara hospice and they were able to help with a medication for UTI that day which was on a Sunday. Also Andrea was so good and kind helping mom with bathing. An added treat for mom was their chaplain Rhonda! Mom would have liked her to come by daily. The only downfall when I moved mom closer to me was that we could not take Elara with us. This company is great!
